May to August 2015

We have had a busy but also very tough few months. Jordan has struggled massively with his depression and anxiety and autism being pretty bad plus hypermobility causing a lot of pain and the worst has been his tourettes being really bad and causing him to have to take 2 weeks off golf due to soft tissue damage. But despite this he has battled on and has done lots.....

In no particular order :)

He has continued to volunteer at golf coaching with both First Swing Academy and also Golf Development Wales. He was with Golf Development Wales at the Celebrity Cup and even dressed as their mascot.

He has spent lots of time helping with the animals and helping settle the newer of the 2 ex strays.

When he has felt up to it he has played golf including Junior comps and Junior 1st team matches. He also as Junior Captain goes up every Wednesday to the Blue Box comps with the little kids and plays along side them. He also qualified for the Junior Club Championships but got beaten at the semi final.

He took part in the Swansea Inclusive Futures Beach Sports Day and other volunteering events with them as well.

Jord has become a member of the Gold Development Wales National Youth Panel which is a fantastic opportunity.

Jord also sat 3 GCSE's in May and June, Maths, History and Business Studies. This year he has chosen to study Sports Psychology and English Language and is also doing his PGA Level 1 in October.

He is still on the R.C.T. Future Champions program and also represented them at The Young Carers Awards and did a speech and presented an award.

He played a few golf competitions including Royal Porthcawl Junior Open, Tenby Junior Open and WDGA St Mellons.

Every Tuesday we go to Bridgend Home Ed group where he catches up with all his friends.

My sister visited from Surrey so it was a lovely evening to catch up with his cousin that we don't get to see much of.

Jord also had two amazing opportunities.Firstly he was invited to play on the ISPSHanda team at the LET Masters ProAm, it was an incredibly hot day but he had an amazing day, saw old friends and played really well in the ProAm and the team just missed out on 3rd place. The other was he was invited to the Ian Poulter Invitational at Woburn,an amazing day where he got to meet his idol, play an amazing course and take part in QnA with his idol.

We are hoping the next couple of months things will ease for Jord and he will be able to find life a bit easier and get lots more done.

January to April 2015

More busy busy busy so the poor blog was neglected again.

So much to share its hard to know where to begin so it wont be in any particular order :)

Jord played a number of comps with the Welsh Disabled Golf Association, at Greenmeadows he came 3rd, at Alice Springs he got closest to the pin but hated the course, and at St Mellons he didn't have the best of days but battled on to finish the round.

Jord became a Mentor for the ROAR project that promotes inclusiveness in volunteering roles. He also spoke at the ROAR media launch and volunteered for the day at the event along side Golf Development Wales. He also volunteered with Swansea Inclusive Futures at the Virgin Media sports taster day. Jord had the amazing opportunity to go on a 3 day stay away at the Inclusive Futures National Camp at Loughborough University, he had an amazing time and didn't want it to end.

Jord went to see his coach and the following day went on a PING experience day which he loved.

We had an extended family meal together which was an lovely afternoon to catch up with cousins, aunts, uncles etc.

Jord got called back to do a second year with the RCT Future Champions mentoring program :)

Last Dec we rescued an ex long term stray and 7 weeks ago we rescued another ex long term stray so he has enjoyed helping them to adjust to home life.

Jord has done lots and lots of studying and revision for his GCSE's in Maths, History and Business Studies.

Jord played in junior 1st team matches home and away for both clubs he plays for Rhondda and Bryn Meadows......he won or halved them all except for the last one against The Vale.

Jord also featured in The PGA 2015 magazine.

Jord has been learning to play the guitar.....he has used you tube to teach himself.

There has also been the usual appointments at CAMHS, Audiology, etc.

He has lots more exciting stuff coming up for the next few months so I will add all that to the next blog update.

He reached all his goals for the season for his golf.

He built a gaming PC from scratch.

He sat his GCSE Higher Level Maths tho he didnt get the result he hoped for so is resitting in June 2015.

He was in an article on the PGA website along with his coach promoting disabled golf and ISPSHanda.

Jordan was lucky and was awarded a bursary from RCT Future Champions for a custom fitting so got custom fitted with a new set of irons for golf.

He continued with his volunteering both volunteering at Valleys Golf inclusive classes and also at Brynmeadows First Swing academy.

He was in an article in the National Club Golfer magazine.

We go to home ed group every Tuesday in Bridgend.

We rescued a long term stray cat and Jord has helped with settling the new cat and helping him get used to being with a family and getting used to human interaction.

He also had a lesson with his coach at the Wales Open at Celtic Manor.

He volunteered with Golf Development Wales at the Wales Open at Celtic Manor.

He played with the Welsh Disabled Golf Association in the last competition of the season at St Andrews Major, not a course id ever pay to play again.

Obviously we had Christmas where he had lots a nice goodies like the gaming pc, new phone, new ipod and more.

He was lucky to go be able to go and watch his favorite band Skindred at The Globe but as my dad knows them Jord got to spend the day with them as well and was on the guest list. He also went to watch the DubWar gig in Newport again on the guest list and also helped my dad out with merchandise.

Two big things that I've kept for last......

Jord was asked to be an ambassador for Swansea Inclusive Futures program and has since also become a mentor for them as well. He was invited to the launch as an ambassador and gave an inspiring speech about inclusiveness in sport and volunteering. He also tried out wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby.

He also had the huge privilege of being asked to the Wales Open Gala Dinner and to play in the Wales Open ProAm. At the Gala Dinner he was presented with an award off ISPSHanda and The PGA in recognition of all he does for an in disabled golf, he got congratulated by Simon Kahn and had a photo with Jamie Donaldson. The following day he played the ProAm with Paul Lawrie and had a fantastic day plus got to say hello to Nicolas Colsaerts and also to Midori Myasaki who was over on behalf of Dr Handa.

All in all a fantastic and very full few months. We are now in February and this year is looking to be just as full and awesome so I look forward to keeping you up to date.
